The main purpose of this series is to inform you on the uses and special merits of various herbal medicines, but because I believe anything can be used as a medicine with the proper method, many more things will be discussed, including minerals, common foods, and even water!
My idea is to open people up to the notion that preparation and method of use are equally as important as what the medicine actually is.
What Is Medicine?
A medicine is not just something that tastes bad while making you feel better. A medicine is anything that is used to promote good health or treat disease.
Herbs, drugs, and food can all be medicines, but there’s also such a thing as healing thoughts and behaviors!
As homeopathy has begun to prove, even things that are usually bad for the body can be used in the right way to promote good health! (More on this later!)
A Word of Caution
When abused, ANY medicine can become bad for you, especially pharmaceuticals! Though that counts for food, too, as Queen Veggie would gladly tell you! So whenever I give information on herbs, minerals, or anything else, I’m assuming the following things:
1. Do more research before taking any new medicines.
2. Don’t ignore the advice of your doctor (carefully worded here).
3. Introduce any new medicine slowly, especially when using pharmaceutical drugs at the same time.
In addition, though I consider myself a healer, I’m not a licensed doctor. I’m an herbalist with good intentions, but none of my recommendations should be misconstrued, misquoted, or taken over the advice of a licensed medical practitioner.
