Prescript-Assist Update
Prescript-Assist has always been one of my first recommendations for probiotics, for many reasons. But unfortunately, the manufacturer made a substantial change in ingredients. The result is that the product is now vastly different from the original formula, which had been tested and clinically verified. This is just another example of why we should always re-evaluate our products. There’s always the possibility of reformulation (for whatever reason) or corporate buy-out. Sadly, we can never get too comfortable.
Are there other products on the market like Prescript-Assist?
Unfortunately, right now, there’s no other product I’m aware of that has a blend of organisms and clinical efficacy similar to that of Prescript-Assist. That said, there are others that are good, like Primal Probiotics from Primal Blueprint. Like Prescript-Assist, it has a blend of acid- and bile-resistant strains that can survive the digestive process, it doesn’t require refrigeration, it contains a prebiotic, and it is generally well-tolerated. Primal Probiotics also contains Lactobacillus plantarum, a strain that has been shown to break down methane-producing microorganisms.
Two other products I’m comfortable recommending would be Bio-Kult and Innate Response.
