The number of adults with high blood pressure will rise from 72 million to 103 million following new, more aggressive hypertension treatment guidelines formulated by the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.
This means 46% of U.S. adults could now be diagnosed with hypertension as the cutoff for what is considered high will be anything above 130/80. (The old standard was 140/90.) People above the new standard will be urged by their doctors to either take medication or change their change their lifestyle.
Now the good news! High blood pressure can be lowered with a low-carb or keto diet. With food that powerful, who needs medications? 🙂
